Income Report January – March 2018: Building Myself Back Up

The Income reports are here.

Yes, they’re back!

I abandoned them many months ago for various reasons.

But now they’re back and they’ll be here to stay.

For now, I’m not sure whether I’ll be keeping it as quarterly or go back to monthly.

Only time will tell.

This will come down to whether I have the time and the number of posts I’m publishing per month.

Why I publish My Income Reports

I put these out here to merely track my progress.

Looking at the ups and downs keeps me motivated to keep pushing within my business.

By no means is my bigger goal is to be the richest blogger but comfortable enough to pursue things I love doing.

Blogging is one of them, teaching Kindle and sharing business knowledge another one.

This is more of an outlet to show you what is possible while at the same time keeping tabs on my finances.

This showed true last year when I stopped them completely and went a bit crazy spending money I shouldn’t have and ended up digging myself a huge financial hole.

While giving myself transparency it also lets you see the money I make to the expenses it costs to run each business.

I hear so many people shouting from the rooftops, I made $5,000 from my business this month.

However, they forgot to tell you they spent $2000 on ads.

This includes everything the money I make to the expenses it takes.

Welcome back the income reports to keep me in line.

Why I Changed To Quarterly Income Reports

For the time being, I’ve changed to quarterly income reports. I want to be writing more content about relevant topics besides how much I earn.

You will still see my earnings from now on as I want to keep you inspired while also showing you the potential of what you can earn online from your side hustles.

The content I will be writing will be more geared towards making money online, Kindle publishing and other technical things around internet marketing as I learn them.

You never know the monthly income reports could come back, but for now, I don’t want it to be 3 posts and then 1 income report, I feel pressure to do them which I don’t like.

It was actually the reason why I stopped.

Now I’m more in a relaxed state which allows me to write more about what I want.

Video Review

For those of you who want the video review, I talk through my income report here.

Amazon Kindle Business

The reason why I started this blog in the first place was to track the progress of my Kindle publishing business.

You can see the first post I did about my Kindle publishing journey here.

Although I haven’t produced a new book in over a year and the income has dropped significantly I still earn passively from my books.

“Don’t take care of a plant and it will wither and die”

That is what I love about Kindle publishing, it can be a onetime thing if you set it up right.

Produce your books and let Amazon do the selling.

Although that is true you do need to do promotion when you start as you don’t want to solely rely on Amazon.

One is the most dangerous number as if that strategy doesn’t work, then you’re screwed.

My income stayed steady and my royalties were just under $1000 a month, I would call that a nice bit of income saying I just sat in my boxers to make that.

Here is a breakdown of how much I made:

Kindle Paid Royalties: $782.19 (Includes US, UK & Euro Royalties)

Kindle Unlimited Royalties: $79.70

Create Space Royalties: $1428.56 (Includes US, UK & Euro Royalties)

ACX Audible Royalties: $288.33 + $250 Bounty = $538.33 = (December – February Royalties)

AMAZON KINDLE ROYALTY TOTAL (1st Quarter): $2828.78

Out Sourcing Fees: $110

Book Writing: $300

Software: $34

Domain: $22

Marketing: $935.95

Total Profit from Kindle publishing $1426.83

I have now got that Kindle fire back in me.

After a year of being stagnant, I have been slowly looking at niches and publishing new books.

I’ve found so many that I’m giving some away.

If you want the list of Top 10 Kindle niches when they come out click here to reserve your copy.

For May I will be publishing 2 books, and then I will be looking to increase that month on month.

This will be a challenge as now I’m not using review swaps which I highly recommend against and advise you to stop doing it

I will be gathering real reviews and market the books for a serious boost at the start.

However, let’s see how that goes before I start doing some mystic meg predictions.

How I Made Passive Income From My Blog

Passive income is the dream, right?

Yeh, I know the feeling, put the hard work in first to reap the rewards.

As I’ve learned the hard way it can be a hit or miss.

Although I’ve earned thousands of dollars from my blog it currently isn’t where I want it to be.

I always had that magic number of $10,000 per month.

It’s what goes round in the communities and is what is the God’s word.

Just like Kindle publishing, I abandoned my blog last year and put very little work into it.

Although my blog maintained the affiliate income for a few months, eventually my income plummeted.

I watched it like a dear in the headlights.

After kicking my own ass, I have twisted all that on myself and changed the direction.

Over the last 3 months its been a nice steady on average $570 a month.

To add that to Kindle, I wouldn’t call that bad.

Here is my affiliate income:

JVZOO: $1041

Click Bank: $460.61

Amazon Associates: $0.50

Site Ground (Web Hosting) : $127 (£90) – £30 each month

Total affiliate commissions income 1st Quarter: $1629.11

How Much Did I Make Writing

My writing business didn’t take off the way I wanted it to.

I had the right systems in place to gather leads and send personalized emails.

I had huge hopes and dreams for this one to help me earn a good revenue.

However, it has been a slow journey.

This business has gained me, clients, here and there and the articles are easy enough to write but I would have loved more clients.

The great thing now is I have a few clients who are recurring, so they either give me weekly, biweekly or monthly articles to write.

Article Writing = $1886

Sourcing clients: $600

Proofreading: $150

Total writing business income: $1136

Other Business Expenses

skype = $36.42

Get Response = $147

Hosting = $240

Education – $650

Google – $14.97

Software – $20

Outsourcing – $

Domain Names: $0

Fresh Books = $90

Donation to Wor. Watthana = $45

TOTAL = $1243.39

Courses Which Helped My Success

I wouldn’t be where I am today without two courses which helped in the build-up to my success with Kindle and blogging

  • Income Boss  helped me learn the basics of personal blogging and helped me earn over $17,000 from my blog so far
  • Self Publishing Revolution helped me understand how to build a profitable Kindle business and earn thousands of dollars from Kindle publishing.

If you purchase any of the course above through my affiliate link I will give you 30 minutes free mentoring.

This won’t cost you anything extra, but you will get this bonus!

Grand Total Passive Income

Now we’re onto the part that everyone wants to see.

This is quarterly income not monthly.

I always strive to be transparent in everything I do so you can see how things go in sways with ups and downs.

Total quarterly Passive Income: $6343.89

Total quarterly Expenses: $3394.95

If I a guy with no skills 2 years ago can achieve this, I believe you can achieve it too.

  • Thanks for sharing this, I especially love the screenshots as to be honest I can be a bit sceptical of income reports without them!
You listed an expense of marketing for your books, how do you market them? 🙂

    • Michael says:

      Hi Francesca
      Thanx for you comment.
I feel that not enough people are transparent and say they make a specific amount but don’t back it up. This is so important to me because then you can see actually what is possible and what I have done specifically.

The marketing expenses are for AMS ads.
